However, causes of anxiety usually include: Stress at work, Stress from school, stress in a personal relationship such as marriage, financial stress, stress from an emotional trauma such as the death or harm of a loved one, stress from a serious medical illness, side effect of medication.

It’s incredible just how much exercise can benefit your overall health. Other than getting you into shape and helping you regulate your weight, exercise can also help improve your mental health.

Exercise helps to focus the mind on a specific achievable task. This type of goal setting can help alleviate anxiety by allowing the mind to focus on something other than uncertain outcomes.  

Breathing into a Bag

While suffering from a panic attack the body begins to mimic symptoms of shock. One of the most common symptoms is a racing heartbeat. A close second for most common symptom is an accelerated pace in breathing.

If suffering from a panic attack it is important to first recognize if your breathing has begun to become shallow and quick. Once you have identified this symptom, consciously correct yourself by taking deep slow breaths and holding each inhalation for a count of 3 seconds. Make sure to exhale on the count of three.

Although laughter might seem to be a bit ludicrous when it comes to dealing with a serious problem such as anxiety; it’s actually a reliable method for improving one’s mental state. Laughter not only helps to relieve tension and anger, it can also reduce the levels of cortisol (the stress hormone) in the body.

Take Up Yoga.

Yoga can be quite an effective remedy for stress. Yoga’s principles focused around breathing and meditation can help to reduce anxiety and prevent future panic attacks.  Yoga also focuses on self-study, which can help an individual identify and address underlying issues for their anxiety.  

Eat More Magnesium.

Proper nutrition plays a key role in your health both physical and mental. As your body experiences stress elevated levels of cortisol can eat away at your body’s magnesium (also known as the calming minerals) levels. By increasing your intake of magnesium you can help relax your body reduces stress levels.
