Broccili and Chick Peas

This is my mother's recipe, which she called "broccoli soup", but I prefer it drier so it is not really a soup.

Ingredients:

1 bunch of fresh broccoli

11 15.5 oz can garbanzo beans (chick peas)

2 to 4 cloves of garlic (depending upon your like of garlic)

1/4 cup Italian, not Spanish, olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

Cut broccoli into 1" pieces, not chopped, include some of the stems, and cook covered in small amount of water in on stove for about 5 minutes or until tender. In the meantime, lightly brown garlic cloves in olive oil, add the can of chick peas, including liquid, and heat together. When broccoli is tender, add it to the chick pea mixture, mix and cook together for about five minutes. (You can add any broccoli water that is left if you want the dish "soupier".

Serves two. Good with crusty Italian bread for dipping!!
