Cigarettes Cause Weight Gain?

by Kim Evans

Too many people continue smoking because they think they'll put on a couple of pounds if they kick the habit. But, what if smoking was actually a key factor in weight gain? How can this be you might be wondering. Let me explain?

The reason is simple. Our liver is our prime fat burning and our prime detoxification organ. This one organ handles both of these important functions. Actually, your liver has more than 1,000 jobs in the body - but daily detoxification and fat burning are two of its critical jobs.

It's widely known that smoking pollutes the body with several hundred poisonous chemicals per cigarette. Yet, when you have habits that pollute the body so thoroughly, your liver (which filters these chemical toxins from your blood) becomes overwhelmed from the constant need to detoxify these chemicals.

In addition to being generally overworked, your liver will also eventually become congested with toxins because if your liver can't render a toxin harmless, it'll just store it for you. Your liver does this to keep those toxins out of your bloodstream - in an effort to keep them from inflicting immediate harm. It's a favor from your liver, but if it continues unchecked, it will cause problems with time.

By smoking, you'll build toxins in your liver - and throughout your body. With time, your liver will struggle to do its daily work - which includes fat burning and daily detoxification. Actually, if you needed to find a sure-fire way to slow your ability to burn fat, building toxicity in your liver through smoking would be an excellent way to do it. But that's not what most people want. It's the opposite of what they want.

Quitting smoking is an intelligent way to give your liver a break and instantaneously cut your incoming toxic load. You can also do a thorough body cleanse, with a liver cleanse, to eliminate large amounts of the toxicity that smokers (and ex-smokers) have inside their bodies.

It's unfortunate, but most toxins trapped in the body will stay there until some deep cleansing is done. Even bad habits from years ago - if unaddressed - can and will still cause problems today. There's only so much of a toxic burden that any body can stand before it starts to have problems. Gaining weight is often just a symptom of an unhealthy liver. Health problems are too.

You know that that health problems are common - and often more serious - in people who smoke. But, do you know why? The actual chemicals polluting the smoker's body from the cigarettes are certainly a large part of it.

However, the second part is: By overworking our livers - and by making them facilities for storing our harmful toxins - it's thwarting our liver's ability to detoxify our bodies - in general. And when our liver can?t render harmless all of the incoming chemicals from non-organic foods, processed foods, cosmetics, lotions, and cleaning supplies, these toxic chemicals will build in a manner unprecedented in your body. With that, you'll absolutely start seeing problems.

If you haven't quit smoking yet, cleansing your body can also help you kick the habit. This is because it's the chemicals from cigarettes, trapped in your body, that are causing the cravings. So, by removing those chemicals, you can eliminate your cravings - rather easily. I think you'll find that both giving up cigarettes and cleansing your body internally might be two of best things you've ever done for yourself. Plus, you might just lose some excess weight in the process.
