I have been on private disability for 18 months and filing for social security which is part of the conditions of my policy to continue receiving benefits has been very difficult.


Gathering the information they want, and looking back 15 years to see what month I started a job, etc., while having Fibromyalgia which can cause cognitive problems in the first place has made it a scary proposition. I have been told everything has to be on the application because later you cannot add anything.

I don't know if that means doctors, diagnosis, etc. My private insurance is running out and at the same time so is my COBRA. I feel overwhelmed. I have been doing everything regarding social security on line which I don't know if it is good or bad.

I don't know what I will live on while waiting for an award and I understand it can take up to 2 years or more for that to happen. My anxiety level is high which makes the pain worse. Oh well, I guess I need to learn to relax and pray.

Thank you for sharing your experience and we all have our fingers crossed for you..... I know the application process can be brutal!

Just a quick note to my knowledge you can add any supporting documentation to your application at anytime prior to the final decision on your application. And of course if you are denied you can appeal your case as well as provide additional information to support your request for benefits.

I know what you mean about fearing to live while your disability case is being decided upon. And if they turn you down, then what? I applied in mid May of this year & am still waiting. I do have a husband but he's not the least bit empathetic. I hope the best of you! Dixie
