It’s no surprise, green tea is the healthiest drink in the world. Period.
Drink A Cup of Green Tea At These Times To Burn Fat and Reduce Risk of Death
Multiple studies have been undergone into the health benefits of green tea, and the results are always the same. Green tea is made up of some of the most vital nutrients and compounds essential to our health.
But while this revelation is relatively new to Western society, in Asia, it has long been known as a magical elixir that has the power to heal. While the exact reasons why green tea is so powerful have been a mystery in the past, we are now able to determine what exactly is in it that makes it so darn good for you.
The Goods On Green Tea
The amount of evidence that shows how people who drink green tea on a daily basis are healthier than those who don’t is staggering. One such study was conducted in 2006 in Japan, a country where green tea is consumed by most of the population more than any other beverage that isn’t water.
This study, printed in The Journal of American Medicine Association September 2006 issue, showed compelling evidence that those who drink green tea are at a lower risk of dying from a multitude of causes ranging from cardiovascular disease to cancer.
The study, which began in 1994, followed 40,530 adults in the northern part of Japan. The participants of this study ranged from 40 to 79 years of age and were followed for up to 11 years. In this region of Japan, 80% of the population consumes an average of about 3 cups of green tea a day.
Researchers found that people who drank at least 5 cups a day had a significantly reduced chance of dying from all causes, versus those who only drank 1 cup a day.
Green Tea For A Healthier Life
It’s incredible how this one drink can provide so many benefits to everyone, and on top of that it’s all natural! While the list of benefits seems to be never ending and new discoveries on how green tea heals us are constantly being uncovered, here are some of the biggest benefits you get from this bountiful beverage.
Improved Brain Function
One of the active components in green tea is caffeine. While it doesn’t have as much as coffee, it still works to fire up neurotransmitters without leaving you jittery. It also contains the amino acid L-theanine which increases dopamine and alpha waves, while also having anti-anxiety effects.
Natural Fat Burner
Green tea has been shown to selectively increase the burning of fat by raising fat oxidation by at least 17%! It also works to boost your metabolism, which is one of the keys to maintaining or obtaining a healthy weight.
Green tea is packed with so many antioxidants, it is one of the best foods to fight cancer. It has been found to decrease the risk of breast cancer in women by 22% and prostate cancer in men by 48%. If you want to full effect of the antioxidants, never put milk in your tea as it could neutralize the antioxidants.
Keeps Brains Youthful
Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s are the two most common neurodegenerative diseases in humans and the two most deadly. A compound in green tea known as catechin has been shown to protect neurons in the brain, making them resistant to aging and deterioration.
Green tea is Mother Nature’s miracle cure. It has been healing us and keeping us safe from diseases long before modern medicine even existed. Go back to your roots (or leaves) and start healing yourself naturally.
