How to Get Rid of Bloating: Consume This Easy Homemade Mixture
We’ve got home bad news and some good news… Everyone has experienced that moment after a meal when discomfort settles in, uninvited. Before you know it, you’re sitting there with a bloated belly, gassy as anything, and you feel the need to go to the washroom. It’s the worst. Now that we’ve gotten the bad news out of the way, here is the good news: you can get rid of bloating for good thanks to one simple homemade mixture – and we’re happy to share the solution!
The 10 Most Likely Causes of Bloating
When you get a bloated belly or that bloated sensation, it’s because your abdomen (e.g., stomach, small intestine, or colon) fills with air or gas. As a result, you get that swollen, enlarged “food baby” look. To get a better idea of whether or not you’re bloated, press lightly on your abdominal area. If it’s softer like a pillow, you probably aren’t bloating. However, if it feels hard like pressing an inflated balloon, you’re probably bloated.
Although bloating may be a symptom of a serious medical condition, it is usually caused by something in the diet. Here are some causes to be aware of:
Lifestyle Habit Causes
- Lactose intolerance
- Celiac disease, gluten intolerance
- Acid reflux
* Surprisingly, many people underestimate this system and often dismiss irregularity as a problem.
- Premenstrual syndrome (PMS)
- Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
- Crohn’s disease
- E coli infection
- Types of cancer, e.g. stomach and ovarian
How to Get Rid of Bloating: The No. 1 Food That Will Actually Help
Anyone who has had to live with bloating can probably attest to the help of various foods. From fiber-rich foods to anti-inflammatory ones, there is hope for your bloating problem! But if we’re going to discuss how to get rid of bloating, we cannot ignore the significance of chia seeds.
Using Chia Seeds to Prevent a Bloated Belly
Chia seeds hail from a desert plant, Salvia hispanica, native to Mexico. For centuries, people have consumed the tiny white and black seeds to reap their health benefits. Thanks to chia seeds’ concentration of protein, carbohydrates, calcium, antioxidants, and (especially) fiber, they are capable of:
- Fighting off cell-damaging free radicals
- Helping prevent spikes in blood sugar
- Curbing appetite and cravings
- Preventing a bloated belly (make sure to pre-soak them first!)
- Promoting weight loss
- Raising good cholesterol
- Strengthening bones
But, what makes chia seeds so effective for a bloated belly is their fiber content and ability to absorb moisture. That’s why pre-soaking them for at least an hour (if not overnight) is so important. By soaking them first, chia seeds absorb moisture which prevents them from expanding in your stomach. This allows you to reap the benefits of fiber for an un-bloated belly, regular bowel movements, and clean colon.
Here’s How to Get Rid of Bloating Naturally with This Chia Seed Shake
Just so you can get a better idea of how potent chia seeds are, check out what 1 ounce (or ~2 tablespoons) of chia seeds contains:
- 11 grams of fiber
- 4 grams of protein
- 5 grams of omega-3 fatty acids
- Calcium, manganese, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, and potassium
- Vitamins B1, B2, and B3
- 137 calories
The recipe only requires a blender and 4 ingredients:
- Glass of water (250-500ml or 1 to 2 cups)
- 1 teaspoon chia seeds
- 1 tablespoon raw honey
- 1 tablespoon organic lemon juice
Next, follow these simple steps…
- Soak your chia seeds in the glass of water for an hour (or more, if you have the time)
- Remove the chia seeds and put them in a blender
- Add in the combined tablespoons of honey and lemon juice
- Blend all ingredients together until the mixture is smooth
- Drink, enjoy, and start reaping the benefits
In order to maximize your benefits, make this powerful and potent drink first thing in the morning before you eat breakfast.
Be careful, though…
No one knows your body better than you do. So, keep a close eye on how your body responds once you start drinking this every morning because some people have responded poorly after consuming too much chia seeds; they felt things like discomfort and bloating (which of course defeats the purpose of eating them). To be safe, start by adding just 1 teaspoon and then work your way up to a maximum 3 teaspoons per drink. So long as your body continues to respond well to the chia seeds, you can feel free to increase the chia seed content to no more than twice a day.
Chia seeds are a great seed for supporting your digestive system because its fiber content helps keep you regular. Once you become regular, you will start noticing that you bloat less and less. The key here is to not get discouraged after a day or two of drinking this chia seed shake. Keep it up for at least two weeks and you will feel a real difference!

A quick note from our founder
I wanted to tell you about a better and far easier way to get all your daily nutritional needs and then some into your diet...
It's so incredible, I've done the unthinkable. YES, I sold my juicer--never to juice again!
And NO I am not spending good money on outrageously expensive smoothies at those high-priced franchises or shots of wheatgrass at $5 a pop.
No this is way easier and cheaper…
In fact, each serving takes just 30 seconds to make and contains all your daily nutrition needs and more-- and at the same time, costs JUST $1.36 per serving.
You can make a glass in a snap, with water or almond milk and just a spoon or a water bottle.
Maybe best of all, each serving contains no sugar and there's no gag-reflex from the yucky taste of the dreaded green foam : )
