Iodine Supplementation
I saw a great video by Jerry Brunetti (not sure about the name) called Food as Medicine (not sure about the title either) in which he describes various methods of healing that do not involve mainstream medicine. It was all quite interesting since he is quite articulate and spoke for three hours with no notes, just a few fairly lame slides which enabled one to write down all the information he was putting out there. For me, it was particularly meaningful in regard to Lugol's solution, invented by a French doctor in (I think) 1829 which is still in use today.
Since I had recently been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and reluctantly had begun with Synthroid (I'm not big on drugs of any variety). I had a mild case but I did know, before the diagnosis, that thyroid problems can be the root of many other health issues. So I took it. The most interesting thing he said was that you could paint a 2" by 2" square on your skin of the solution and watch how quickly or not it faded.
Since iodine hangs around for a long time when used, I decided to get the solution and take the test. (You should get a REAL test if it disappears in less than 24 hours but I cut to the chase). My square was totally gone, vanished, in less than 7 hours. I did not not feel I needed further proof that I was iodine deficient and began taking 4 drops a day.
The Synthroid had had no visible effect after a month, but the solution was all but instant in energy and contentment. It was scary (as I find all self-medication, so I study hard), but so definite that I shall continue. My doctor would not by sympathetic to this action by her patient, and I am considering whether to tell her or not. I am to take the Synthroid for 3 months and then have another blood test which would be my first information that the drug is helping me. The great part about the iodine is that I can paint a square anytime I want to and check the disappearance time, discovering whether I have repaired the deficiency and then only take, say 4 drops once a week to keep the level correct. What empowerment!!
The body doesn't store iodine, so one needs to have a notion of how one is doing and this method permits this without going to get blood taken. As I understand it, Synthroid just jacks up the thyroid and doesn't add to the iodine level. I am not however, about to write a Wikipedia article, etc. without learning a lot more! So some of this may be incorrect but the improvement in yours truly is undeniable and I am totally good with this. By the way, if you don't want to ingest Lugol, you can just paint it on and good old iodine will make it's way to your thyroid and beyond. It is GRAS in the first place and and brilliant for me. Can't ask for more than that.
I see it as a life addition, since one can always find out if one is below optimum. Thank you Mr. Brunetti. I'm very happy that you cured yourself of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma with non-AMA methods and that you are out in the world talking and educating the rest of us.
