Lower Left Back Pain

Are you dealing with Lower Left Back Pain? Well now days it seems like everybody you meet has some kind of pain in the back!

Back pain, especially lower left back pain is a very common ailment nowadays mostly because of the sedentary lives so many of us are leading. There are many reasons for back pain; it could be bad posture, strained sitting conditions, uncomfortable chairs, long sitting hours, overexertion and so on.

"Pain that develops in the left lower back is most often due to relatively common, simple conditions. However, it is important to understand the causes and symptoms of back pain in order to prevent more serious conditions from occurring. " And as with any pain you need to check with your doctor to make sure you do not have a serious underlying condition.

In most cases, left lower back pain is attributed to a strained muscle. In such instances, back pain can be relieved by conservative means. Ice packs followed by heat pads are a good way to minimize pain and also reduce tension from a tight muscle. Physical therapy is also an option because it's a good way to reduce pain in the lower back as well as an opportunity to learn the exercises and stretches necessary to not only relieve pain, but also add strength to the back. Recent studies have found yoga, stretching and exercises that strengthen your back muscles to relieve back pain better than many traditional treatments. So it is a good idea to research all your options before picking a treatment.

"More serious causes of left lower back pain can be related to aging and wear and tear. Arthritis is one cause of pain in the lower back that is relatively common. This condition occurs when the joints in the back become worn and inflamed. Wear and tear can often cause the discs of cartilage between the vertebrae to thin, causing pain during movement since the cushion becomes not only thinner, but also firmer as it loses elasticity. Also with age, osteoporosis can also occur and causes severe lower back pain. Osteoporosis is when bones lose their density, putting you at risk of developing fractures."

"Prevention Is Always Better Than Cure

We are living in a time when work involves more mental work than physical effort. The volume of work and home responsibilities are such that it leaves us precious little time to take care of our physique. However, if you want to ban backache, you will need to exercise regularly, even if it is just for 15 minutes every day. "
