Organic Food Diet

Is it wise to spend extra money on organic foods? The answer is a resounding yes! But you need to know when it pays to buy organic food products and when it’s a waste of your money.

What’s the big difference? The big difference is how much pesticide and chemicals are used on different types of fruits and vegetables that are non-organic and the effect they have on your body and your health.

Based on my research here is a list of the top foods that we should buy Organic:

Fruits-

  • Apples
  • Cherries
  • Strawberries
  • Raspberries
  • Grapes
  • Raisins
  • Peaches
  • Nectarines
  • Apricots
  • Pears
  • Lemons
  • Limes
  • Bananas
  • Kiwis
  • Cantaloupes
  • Tomatoes
  • Grape Juice

    Vegetables-

  • Potatoes
  • Corn
  • Celery
  • Cucumbers
  • Spinach
  • Green & Red Bell Peppers
  • Lettuce
  • Hot Peppers
  • Green Beans
  • Hard Winter Squash

    Dairy-

  • Milk

    Meats-

  • All MEAT

    General-

  • Baby Food
  • Rice
  • Oats

The way I see it, it is very simple, it pays to buy organic because your body is worth it! When you don’t, washing does help remove some of the pesticides but will not take it all off, especially on hard to wash produce like berries. Pesticides actually make it into many of the plants and therefore into the fruit and vegetables that we eat.

The above listed vegetables and produce, have the most pesticides when bought non-organic so it is tougher to take the time to wash them off. A good rule of thumb is to follow the list above and then buy organic the foods you consume the most. The rest don’t worry too much about. There is balance with everything; there is no need to become obsessive about buying and consuming organic foods. Just be conscious when making your purchases and do the best you can within the time and budget you have.
