Physical Therapy Rehabilitation
My Experience: This was a recommendation from my doctor. Things were unraveling so fast and I was loosing strength in the right side of my body so the doctor felt it would be a good idea to try Physical Therapy. I went to Physical Therapy for about 3 months. You start out very slow, with stretching; some massage and then eventually move up to using a bike or treadmill. For me it was premature. My body was still breaking down and the energy that I was putting into the therapy could have been better used by my body to support itself. Although I did add stretching in the pool which I found to have some benefit. One of the methods that the physical therapist used was to apply a TENS machine to my knees, they felt like footballs and weighed 8 billion pounds. This was not a positive experience because for whatever reason with this disorder electricity in any form has an immediate negative effect.
Would I do it again? Certainly for a specific injury or identified issue. But probably not in a situation where I was still kind of stumbling around in the dark. I was already trying to do stretching and minimal walking at home to keep myself moving and would probably have been better served conserving my energy for my body and not just trying anything and everything to help myself. ![]() ![]() If you enjoyed this article you may also like to read about my experience with Rolfing
