  • Red meat
  • Sugar
  • Salt
  • Fats
  • Caffeine
  • Nightshade plants (e.g. tomatoes, eggplant)
  • Dairy products

Foods to stock up on 

These foods have been found to help relieve symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis:

  • Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, such as fish 
  • Foods rich in antioxidants and fiber (colourful fruits and vegetables)
  • Gluten-free and vegan diets
  • Nuts and seeds

Like many things related to your health, diet plays a crucial role in the development of or protection against rheumatoid arthritis. By making conscious food choices, you can avoid foods that will make your body more susceptible to pain and inflammation, and instead munch on foods that have been categorized as anti-inflammatory.
