SootheAway Product Review and GiveawayMillions of people suffer from migraine headaches and pain every day with no relief. Pain can be paralyzing I know, I deal with chronic pain daily due to a neurological disorder and it can certainly control your life. I also have a sister who deals with chronic migraines that has no other option than to remove all stimuli from her environment and shut herself away until it passes. So when SoothAway contacted me about testing their Continuous Thermal Therapy System I was more than happy to recommend her as a candidate to test and review their product. What's the Product?
Wow, this is quite the machine. Most of the times when you order these products you get some lightweight piece of plastic that immediately makes you think you fell for another scam but not SootheAway, this is a solid piece of equipment that I am eager for my sister and other family members to try.
How I used it Like I said, I had intended for my sister to try this product because she suffers from chronic migraines, but low and behold, she had it for a month and she didn't have a single episode! Go figure, it's like when you take your car to your mechanic the noise mysteriously disappears. So I contacted a friend of mine, Deborah Karlan, a certified massage therapist, and had her select a few of her clients to volunteer for the treatments. Before I share Deborah's review, I want to take the opportunity to clarify that SootheAway is designed for use by individuals experiencing migraine/headache pain although Deborah will be trying the unit on multiple clients with various conditions. The pads included with the unit are specifically designed for migraine/headache sufferers to use on common trigger points which have been identified, inclusive of forehead/temple, occipital (rear of head), and eye area. There is also a universal pad, which can be used at the patient's discretion in other areas. Additionally the unit is designed primarily for home use. Given that information I think Deborah's results are quite good. Deborah tested the SootheAway machine on 10 of her clients with varying symptoms that included TMJ, back pain, headaches and neck pain. The results varied. Five of them felt relief ranging from mild to total relief of pain. The other five did not experience any relief whatsoever. The five clients that did not find relief felt the pads were not comfortable enough or did not fit properly to give the full effects of the therapy. Deborah's overall opinion was that the SootheAway therapy was effective, but she felt that the pads and tubing were a bit cumbersome. She felt that the unit might be better suited for home use. Given Deborah's results I was eager to try the unit myself. The first thing I noticed was that it was fairly easy to set up and prepare for treatment. Although, as with any treatment outside of a pill, it does require a little bit of work. Right off the bat I would have to agree with Deborah that the tubes and padding are a bit cumbersome and I would almost have preferred a huge universal pad instead of a multitude of pads. After visiting SootheAway's website I did find that they offer a universal pad, and it makes complete sense that they would have various pads that fit around the head and over the eyes. Overall it is rather easy to set up and prepare for treatment, and having tried many 'machines' in my day I would say they are all a bit cumbersome until you get used to them and, heck, if they work, who really cares. OK, test number one, for the chronic pain on the left side of my body. I tried the heat treatment on level 8; shew, it was super hot so I adjusted it to level 5 and used it for 30 minutes. Wow, that really did improve my pain. I have used heat in the past but it has been either a heating pad or patch and, truthfully, it was only mildly effective. But this treatment uses circulating water to deliver a steady amount of heat and, after a half hour, the side of my body felt much better. I am not likely to try the cold treatment given that I tend to run cold and cold temperatures tend to increase my pain, but I will try a few more treatments of the heat to see if I can get a bit of steady relief to the left side of my body. I certainly can see the potential benefits of alternating temperatures, cold and hot between treatments, but it's just not for me. I used the unit a total of 4 times and each time I experienced relief from my pain. Overall I would have to say that SootheAway is a good product that I would be happy to recommend. How does Mother Earth feel about this product? Well, Mother Earth is pretty happy with Sootheaway. She recognizes that Sootheaway is decreasing the amount of pharmaceuticals that end up in our water supply and our bodies simply by offering individuals another option for pain relief. She is also pretty happy about the fact that Sootheaway created its unit using components that are all RoHS compliant, the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive adopted by the European Union in 2003. RoHS compliant products help reduce damage to both people and the environment in third world countries where much of today's high tech waste ends up. Sootheaway also created a unit that is a closed-cell system, which continuously recycles the same 4 oz of water, unlike competitive products, which require refilling with ice, and gallons of water for each use. And, to top it all off, Sootheaway is currently donating a portion of every sale to the American Migraine Foundation. Sounds pretty darn good to me. Is it a Healthy Product? Yup, anything that relieves pain without the use of pharmaceuticals gets a big A+ in my book. Healthy indeed. How does this product impact my wallet? Well it is a bit of an investment at $299.00 but if you are suffering from pain and it's effective it is negligible in the whole scheme of things. Would I recommend this product to a friend? Yes, as long as they have tried ice packs or heat packs before and found they offer some relief. Here is the bottom line, different treatments work on different people, it is what makes the world go round, SootheAway makes a solid product that depending upon your condition could make a significant impact on your life. So yes, I would recommend it to a friend but having them test using ice and heat first. Bottom Line:
