Starting the Disability Process

Just getting started and terrified!

I suffer from Severe depression bipolar type II. That is my diagnosis. I have been dealing with depression since childhood. I am now at the point that I can't work and have to depend on social security for survival. I have only completed the initial application and have received a request to complete 3 other forms with about 40 questions.

How intimidating!

I don't want to experience a long drawn out ordeal to get money that I'm told I am eligible for if I qualify. I started surfing the web and ran across The Disability Digest which has directed me to this site for assistance. I want all the information I can get before I send the paperwork back in. I pray I am as lucky and get approved in the first round.

Did you find the application to be easy or challenging?

Were you treated fairly and respectfully by your contact at Social Security Disability?

Was there a time that the process that was too overwhelming and you considered giving up?
