Stress is the body's natural reaction to situations that are not comfortable or pleasing to the person. Stress can be many things - from the physical reactions that a person's body has, to the mental situations that are caused by having things to do, things to worry about, and things to deal with on a regular basis. Stress is a catch-all term, used for both the body's reactions, and for the actual things that are causing the reactions. Either way you look at it, stress is a part of life - from the ringing of the phone to the work or school schedules, to the plans for the future and even issues like money, bill paying, and relationships. Therefore, stress is something that is present in everyone's lives, but the stress symptoms are the actual things that happen to your body, your mind, and your life, when you are dealing with too much of it.
Stress symptoms are usually physical symptoms that you will be exhibiting when you are in stressful situations, or due to a build up of stress in your life. These include:
Also, some people who experience stress can have panic attacks, flu-like symptoms, and a general feeling of malaise. A person with high levels of stress might find that they are unable to sleep, or that they sleep too much. These symptoms might come and go as your stressors come and go, but they might also be chronic, meaning that you are under so much stress that your body simply can't handle it. When you have chronic stress, you might experience all of these symptoms, plus issues like depression and anxiety. If your stress symptoms stick around long enough, you'll find that they affect nearly every aspect of your life - from the way that you make plans to the way that you sleep at night. A person might turn to drugs or alcohol to ease their stresses, and they might also have a weakened immune system, which will cause them to fall ill more often - of course, greatly increasing their stress levels. There are plenty of things that cause stress in each person's everyday life. For some people, it is the larger things, like thinking about the future, budgeting finances, and deciding what they want to do for a career. For some people, stress is caused by a build up of small things - too many activities and not enough time, children that are misbehaving, or a phone that won't stop ringing. Just about anything in your life can lead you to experience stress. However, some stress is good stress. Many people work well under pressure, and when they know that someone is going to be judging what they are doing, or when they know that a specific action or project is vital to their lives, they are going to do these things better than they would have done them otherwise. Stress can also lead you to be better at organizing your life, take more control over your schedule, and find time in your life to relax. Even though some stress is good for you, a build up of it, or a situation where you have chronic stress, isn't good for you. Having too much stress can cause you to lose focus in your life, and be unable to function in the way that you would like. Luckily, there are some great stress management techniques, and simple changes that you can make to your life to allow you to deal with stress better. Keeping your life balanced and organized is a great way to eliminate the extra stress that comes with clutter. Also, having an organized schedule allows you to plan ahead and avoid the stress that comes with last minute plans. If you are able to think through a budget, you'll have less of your time consumed with worrying about finances. Also, relaxation is a big part to managing stress, and to getting rid of stress symptoms. See if you can fit in ten minutes a day to do some deep breathing exercises, or to simply sit quietly and think about your day. Focusing on your breathing and doing activities like yoga also help you to get rid of stress. Lastly, if you are able to eat a balanced diet, get plenty of exercise, and regulate your sleep cycle, you'll find that you are better able to handle the stress in your life.
