'Taking Charge of Your Own Health' Book Review and GiveawayManeuvering through our health care system can be overwhelming and present you with some interesting challenges. And trying to navigate through the health care system when you are sick can almost seem insurmountable; I know because 10 years ago, my life fell apart and I was forced to deal with daily challenges beyond my imagination, and one of them was the health care system. Taking charge of your own health is imperative if you want to get the help you deserve. So, when Lisa Hall contacted me about reviewing her new book "Taking Charge of Your Own Health" I was more than happy to oblige. What's the Product?
First Impressions I was quite interested in reading Lisa's book especially with my personal experience with the system and understanding the importance of managing your own health care. The book is rather small, only 246 pages, with an appealing cover and an impressive Contents page urging me to start reading. I particularly liked the forms to help you document all about your illness, medications, doctors' visits, treatments, misdiagnoses, etc. How I used it
I started reading the book the first night I got it. I found so many similarities between my personal health journey and Lisa's that it was hard to step back and give an impartial review. My first impression is one of respect and admiration for Lisa to take the time to turn her experience into an opportunity to give to others. Lisa has shown great courage and fortitude and I was looking forward to reading the rest of her book. As I read through her book I found the information to be well thought out and I appreciated the combination of patient and doctor opinion in one single book. It is rare to have a book literally show you in writing how working with your doctor can be the key to your reaching your health goals. Lisa emphasizes the importance of the patients responsibility in documenting their health concerns and in articulating those concerns to their doctor so they can be an active partner in helping the doctor not only identify what is going on in 'their body' but in the treatment of their condition. Lisa's book is broken down into three easy to follow parts the first part is called 'Taking Responsibility for Your Health' which focuses on living healthy, preventative care, recording health concerns and effectively communicating with your practitioner. The second part of the book is called 'Taking Charge of Your Attitude' and is focused on finding meaning in your challenge and looking at the big picture. Life will always offer adversity, it is how you handle that which determines your quality of life not your circumstances. And the final part of the book focuses on the resources and tools that can help you effectively take back control of your health care and ultimately your health. Overall, I found Lisa's book to offer not only the insight and information needed to motivate you to take back charge of your health care, but also the tools. Her book is a powerful instrument to opening the doors to a better understanding between your health care provider and yourself. I commend Lisa Hall for first becoming an advocate for her herself and then turning that experience into a powerful mechanism for others to now advocate for themselves. How does Mother Earth feel about this product? Self-empowerment is precious to Mother Earth because it inevitably leads to a better understanding of oneself as well as understanding that we are all connected to each other as well as the Earth. Is it a Healthy Product? Empowerment is the first step to healing and this book is all about owning your body, mind and soul. So, is it healthy?, absolutely. How does this product impact my wallet? Lisa's book costs the same as most new books but the support it can provide you is priceless. Would I recommend this product to a friend? Most definitely, I have heard my share of horror stories over the past ten years and this book can be just the concrete tool that can help motivate someone to get the help they so desperately need. Bottom Line:
5 stars. Any book that has the capacity to alter someone's life get 5 stars from me.

I read it cover to cover. This book instantaneously resonated with me for many reasons. First, ironically enough, Lisa was diagnosed with almost the same disorder that I have and she managed her health care in a similar fashion to the way we approached my care. And I say we because I had a team of people supporting me through the process, most prominently my parents. And, finally, just as Lisa did, I created a tool for others to maneuver through some of the same challenges; except that my approach focused on how to fight for Social Security Disability Benefits.
