The Ohana Cafe Review and GiveawayI live in Tarpon Springs, Florida which is NOT a Mecca for organic or all natural anything so trying to find organic restaurants and cafes for my family to enjoy has been challenging to say the least. So when the Ohana Cafe, just a short drive from my home invited us to review them we were more than happy to oblige. What's the Service?
The Ohana Cafe has entertainment every Friday and Saturday evening as weather permits. The entertainment varies from local musicians to hula dancers and even an amazing, interactive Drumming Circle, all very family oriented and lots of fun. We had actually come for the Drumming Circle but, due to inclement weather, it had been cancelled. My four year old was very disappointed but was still thrilled that we were having dinner.
Actually I went to The Ohana Cafe a total of 4 times and only the last time did they know that I was reviewing them. I only have one thing to say, holy smokes! The food is incredible and it's not just me who thinks so. I brought two junk-food junkies with me, and I mean hardcore junk food lovers! Getting them to commit to the meal was not easy, it was like pulling teeth, but once they were there they fell in love with the food and the atmosphere. I tried several different meals myself including the Maui Wowie Wrap, Veggies and Brown Rice, Garden Veggie Delight Sandwich and Vegan Tacos all of which were quite good, although I found myself to be a bit partial to the Vegan Tacos. Actually, I couldn't stop eating them. My other guests had individual pizzas as well as a Vietnamese pulled-pork sandwich that is apparently to die for. The final verdict: everybody loved it and they all wanted to go back, even the junk-food junkies!
The Ohana Cafe serves wonderful food by wonderful people and I feel blessed and lucky to have stumbled across this little gem in Ozona, Florida. All I can say is if you don't live in the area, it is worth the drive.
The principle behind the cafe is the 'Aloha Spirit,' hence the greeting when you enter the cafe. What is the Aloha Spirit? "The literal meaning of Aloha is "the presence of breath" or "the breath of life." It comes from "Alo," meaning presence, front and face, and "ha," meaning breath. Aloha is a way of living and treating each other with love and respect. It's deep meaning starts by teaching ourselves to love our own beings first and afterwards to spread the love to others" and that is truly felt throughout The Ohana Cafe.

Driving up to the Ohana cafe you see an inviting, quaint cafe that draws you right in. The cafe has limited seating but a large outdoor patio to compensate. The staff is very friendly and up-beat. You are immediately welcomed in with an 'Aloha' from every staff member and usually the 'Aloha' is followed by a great big hug. Now I am not much for immediately hugging a stranger, but it is so genuine and warm that you will find yourself hugging back with enthusiasm. Ohana is Hawaiian for "family" and it shows.
The Ohana Cafe's slogan is "Healthy Fare with an Island Flair." And once you read the menu you will know exactly what they mean by 'Healthy Fare." According to their menu they "proudly use the freshest ingredients possible, they prepare all their food with Love from scratch, most of their fruits and vegetables are organically grown, their proteins are antibiotic, hormone and nitrate free and they never use MSG or high fructose corn syrup." And, to boot, they offer gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options on their menu. Whoopee we are off to a great start!
