The Secret

Have you ever wondered how come you are not rich, why you don’t have the relationship or family you always wanted or how come you don't have the right job?

Have you ever wondered why you don‘t have the things you want in life? Do you know that these things can be yours…?

Do you want to know how a movie called The Secret changed my life and how it can change yours? I was introduced to "The Secret" last year and since then my life and that of our family has changed forever.

Nevertheless, my desire to start a family intensified. I thought about babies day and night and was starting to lose patience. Every time I saw friends with babies or even children in the grocery store it only created a feeling of sadness and even of jealousy.

Around Christmas 2005 Michelle happened to watch a DVD about visualizing and manifesting the things that you want in order to trigger the universal power of attraction. The DVD was called "The Secret" and she was so excited and impressed about what she learned from the DVD that she immediately wanted to share it with me. At first I thought that it was just going to be another program about applying your spirituality and positive thinking and that was good, but I didn’t expect to hear anything new. So we sat down and watched "The Secret" together. And boy, was I impressed!

I did learn some new things after all. The most important thing that was conveyed to me was that you first have to manifest the things you want, “act as if” you already have them and feel the joyous feelings that come with that as you get ready to receive them.

It sounded simple enough to me so a few days later I decided to put this new premise into practice. I cut a picture of a beautiful baby out of a magazine and taped it by my medicine cabinet. Every time I went in my bathroom, I caught a glimpse of that picture. I would then close my eyes and visualize our life with the new baby in my arms. I imagined the three of us walking along the beach collecting seashells. I imagined reading, singing, and dancing around the house with the baby in my arms. I imagined just holding and telling the baby over and over again how much I loved him/her. During this whole time, I never allowed myself to doubt, but truly believed that a baby would be in our family in the near future. And every time I pictured my life with this baby, my heart just filled with joy.

At the same time, Michelle began visualizing the phone ringing with the adoption agency on the line telling us we had a child. Exactly two days later, on January 23rd, the phone did ring. And somehow Michelle instantly knew that the call was from the adoption agency. And, of course, she was RIGHT! She called me at work and asked me, “Do you want a baby?” Of course, I said, what do you think I talk about night and day!? Then, “It’s YOURS! The adoption agency called and a birthmother has chosen us to adopt her child. I don’t have any details, but she is due any day now!"

Even though I had not doubted that the promise of The Secret would come true, I was in shock!

And on Saturday morning, January 30th, we got the call that the birthmother had gone into labor and was on her way to the hospital. That evening at 11:30pm, the phone woke us up. It was the agency social worker telling us that a baby girl was born. We immediately made plans to fly to Maryland to pick our new baby up.

That was the start of a week of relatively no sleep, not because of the baby, but just because of pure excitement and too much joy to contain! On Sunday morning, January 31st, we flew into BWI and headed for the hospital. Michelle’s sister met us at the airport and we headed for the hospital, but all I remember is how utterly freezing it was.

Once at the hospital, we had to wait for what seemed like a lifetime for the nurse to bring the baby to us. It was LOVE at first site, I tell you. We spent two days with her at the hospital and then took her home to Michelle’s sister’s house on Monday, February 5th. Two weeks later all the paperwork was completed and we flew home to Florida.

We started visualizing and manifesting a baby on January 16th and on February 5th, we had a baby girl in our arms. We continue to visualize and manifest all our needs and that of our new baby girl. And just as promised in The Secret, things continue to materialize through the power of universal attraction.
