The Truth Behind FDA Approved Poison

Let’s give a big hand to the Food and Drug Administration.

*Slow Awkward Clap*

Once again, they’ve given the pass on another dangerous drug that could potentially kill you. It’s actually the one lasting “pain-killer” in the cox-2-inhibitor  family of “medicine” that people are using for arthritis and pain.

The other two big name members, Vioxx and Bextra were in the same category, and were taken off the market. Why? Their adverse effects were exposed, and suddenly the pressure was on to get rid of them. It worked.

Now we’re left with the last standing member of the three, Celecoxib. It’s also marketed under the names Celebrex, Celebra, and Onsenal. Do those names sound natural at all?

Let’s take a look at what Celecoxib is doing for you. Or should we say, to you.

There have been a number of studies done to expose the dangers of taking Celecoxib medicinally. One particular set of studies was funded by the National Cancer Institute. Researchers found that patients who use ~400mg of Celebrex twice a day (which is a prescribed dosage) triple their chances of having a heart attack. These days, heart attacks are already pretty common, especially with America’s rise in morbid obesity. Using Celebrex is a dangerous gamble when the stakes are already pretty high. Why increase the risk?

But wait, there’s more!

People who take half of that dose (~200mg) still double their chances of having heart attacks and strokes.

On top of that, a number of other heart problems and risks of cardiovascular disease are presented by exposure to the drug.

This is supposed to be medicine?

Other studies also looked into the effects of Celecoxib on gastrointestinal problems and as expected, more dangerous side effects were exposed. Use of the drug was found to be associated with a number of gastrointestinal perforations, obstructions, and bleeding problems. How strong of an association? Somewhere around the area of an 81% increase in rate of occurrence for these complications after using Celebrex.

Is it really worth taking a pill to help your pain when it’s suddenly exposing you to such a wide number of potentially lethal problems? The drug’s manufacturer even announced openly on the label that “Celebrex may cause an increased risk of serious cardiovascular thrombotic events, myocardial infarction, and stroke, which can be fatal.” Sure, your wrist may stop hurting, but what if it’s because of a double-edged sword?

Why not try a healthier alternative?

There are a number of safe, natural painkillers that you can use in place of pills to aid in dealing with chronic pain, joint soreness, menstrual problems, and more. Most of them are also a lot less expensive than prescribed drugs, and are infinitely more healthy.

The FDA is approving more and more harmful drugs and substances because they assume people are blind to the adverse effects they have on the users. Doctors are writing prescriptions faster than they can count, and they’re being given without mention of healthier, alternative options.

Save yourself an extra trip to the hospital and stay away from cox-2 inhibitor at all costs. The “medicinal” benefits of the drugs are far outweighed by the benefits of avoiding them. Your body will thank you.
