Vitamin Therapy and Herbal Medicine

You will never believe how many vitamins and herbs I was taking at one time. Sometimes you can have too much of a good thing! You have to find a balance between what your body needs and what everybody is telling you your body needs. Use your own judgment and trust your gut, literally.

Definition:
- Vitamin therapy: This is simply defined as the use of vitamins to prevent or cure disease. Many physicians are now recognizing the beneficial uses of anti-oxidant and other vitamins for a wide variety of conditions, often as a complementary therapy to accompany medication or other treatments. One variant on this theme, Megavitamin Therapy, is still rather controversial. Always consult your doctor before adding vitamin supplements to your health regimen.

- Herbal medicine: The study or use of medicinal herbs to prevent and treat diseases and ailments or to promote health and healing.

My Experience: I started supplementing with vitamins and Herbal Medicine from the onset of my illness. I feel it is essential to provide your body with as much support as possible for it to be able to heal itself. I also felt like many of my symptoms could be treated naturally with herbal remedies. I consulted with two different individuals, one a specialist in vitamin nutrition and another that specialized in herbal remedies.

It is important to get quality advice on what you need to take and what vitamin needs to be taken in combination with another to be effective. The vitamin therapist helped guide me through the maze of supplements available on the market.

I also consulted with an herbalist and he was the one who got my allergies under control. He explained that all allergies start with internal allergies. He helped me understand that I was eating certain foods that I had allergies to that were weakening my system and creating external allergies. I took an herbal remedy and changed my diet and the allergies stopped immediately.

I did not experience allergies for 4 years until I moved to Florida again after many years. Once more I contacted this wonderful herbalist (he lives in the state of Washington) and over the phone we went over the food I was eating. He prescribed herbs that once more have eliminated my allergies.

I have probably taken hundreds of different vitamins and herbal remedies since the onset of my disorder. I can’t even begin to remember the names much less list them. The following is a list of what I am currently taking on a daily basis or as needed.

My Current Vitamin and Herbal Regiment:

  • Calcium Citrate w/Vitamin D

  • Magnesium Citrate

  • Gamma E Tocopherol

  • Silibinin Plus

  • Folic Acid w/Vitamin B12

  • Iron Plus Protein

  • Multi vitamin

  • Nutra Flora

  • Life Flora

  • R-Lipoic Acid

  • Pantothenic Acid

  • CoQ10

  • Sytrinol

  • Omega-3 fish oil supplements

  • Benfotiamine

  • Vitamin C

  • Progesterone Cream

  • Ginkgo Extract

  • Echinacea

  • Allergy Formula

Would I do it again? I still do and will continue to support my body in its effort to heal itself through the use of vitamin and herbal therapy.
