When they, don't bother to keep record of medicine being ineffective, no matter how many times it happens.by Nick
This is another story from when I was growing up. While I had 1 primary care pediatrician, he worked at a practice, where I would see one of a few others if he was unavailable. So despite not always seeing the same doctor every time, because they all worked at the same practice you would expect accurate history. Whenever I had had strep throat or an ear infection, they would prescribe Amoxicillin. As I got older, Amoxicillin wound up not doing the job more often then not. So whenever that happened I would have to go through another appointment, and another prescription for a different medicine. As you can imagine, this got absurdly tiring. Well, when I was 15, I started having reacuring cold like symptoms. It may not sound like much, but when you have a cold that keeps coming back after seemingly having beat it, it's not fun. After a couple of rounds of this coming back, I go see the doctor. They prescribe Amoxicillin yet again. We fight it citing the usual resistance to it, the doctor claims that had NEVER happened with me before. So at that point, the doctor pulls out my medical history, and starts listing off the reasons for my doctor's visits and the course of treatment for the last 6 years. Despite having quite a few instances of them having to prescribe a different medication after Amoxicillin failed, the idiots NEVER wrote it down a single time. Having lost the initial battle, I'm prescribed that accursed drug. "Ironically" the Amoxicillin had no effect on the never ending cycle. We return to the doctor. This time the idiot is forced to realize that Amoxicillin isn't working. He prescribes a new drug (the name escapes me). Well halfway through the prescription, I start getting persistant nosebleeds (a first with the sickness). While it wound up not being connected to the drug itself, it got us to take a closer look. Turns out the medicine they prescribed me was 95% Amoxicillin. Fuming we see the doctor yet again, this time finally seeing my primary pediatrician.
