“Life is hard” is a phrase we hear a lot, especially as we grow into adulthood and set out on our trail through life. There are bills to pay, responsibilities to follow through on, consequences and random occurrences to be tended to, as well as a lot of inner dialogue to contend with through all the ups and downs of life.
But is it possible that you’re caring, worrying, and stressing about too many things? Isn’t your life what you make of it, meaning you’re actually in control of how hard it really is? Sometimes it’s better to not worry, so here are 17 examples of what it’s better to not give a f*ck about (1).
17 Things Not To Give A F*ck About
#1. What Other People Think Of You
It’s very important to not measure yourself by someone else’s standards (2). Someone somewhere will always judge your decisions and actions, so stop living your life for them and live your life for you.
#2. Being Right 100% Of The Time
Not only does everyone have their own set of beliefs and understandings, but it’s also impossible to always be right. Be willing to learn and also be willing to allow other people to have their own opinion.
#3. Having A Perfect Body
First off, there’s no such thing, so stop obsessing over it. Be strong, be healthy, be you – and learn to love who you are. There’s no reason to be insecure about yourself.
#4. Whether You Should Wear The 4-Inch Heels, Your Black Shoes, Or The Sneakers.
This often relates to the first point, so just stop it. Wear what you want. Wear what you like. Wear what makes you feel the most like you, and rock it.
#5. Your Past
Learn from it and move on. There’s no point in constantly stressing over something that happened years ago since you can do nothing to change it. Do better in the future and forgive yourself for making a mistake.
Learn to love your life and start doing things that are worth talking about. Stop wasting your life trash-talking other people or spreading information that is none of anyone’s business. This only hurts relationships, people, and your reputation (3).
#7. Gaining Approval
Listen to advice, but be responsible for your own life. Make your own decisions and stand behind them.
#8. Toxic People Around You
Healthy boundaries in relationships are necessary for living a healthy life (4). Be sure to maintain strong boundaries with toxic people.
#9. Your Failures
This relates to point 5. Your failures are there to teach you, not cripple you. Learn from your mistakes and improve yourself. Don’t let them trap you.
#10. Mandatory Night-Outs And Wild Friday Nights
If you want to go out, go out. If you want to stay in, stay in. Don’t ever feel like someone else’s idea of fun has to be your idea of fun. Do what you want!
#11. Your Social Media Following And Likes
Believe it or not, the number of followers you have on Instagram in no way determines your worth. You can have 10 or 10,000, but what really matters is the person you are in the flesh.
#12. The Things You Don’t Have
There are always going to be nice, flashy things that you’ll wish you have and don’t. Stop letting it keep you up all night or ruin your day. Be thankful for what you do have!
It’s a waste of time. Take the hit, learn from it, and be the better person. Revenge isn’t actually sweet, it’s just a waste of time and energy.
Embrace the moment. Love your life. Be in reality. Don’t worry about what could have been if…
#15. Material Things
Everything you can buy is replaceable, so stop valuing it more than the things you can’t purchase with money.
#16. Being “Good Enough”
Just be you and do your best! It’s enough.
Take the time you need to grief a loss or a mistake, but don’t let it take over your life. Move forward, make progress, and do better in the future.
