When you make your next trip to the grocery store, it’s important to keep a few things in mind. So many of the products that you hungrily pull off of shelves may also be home to a number of dangerous chemicals and processed ingredients that you weren’t aware of – What does this mean? Well, you’re basically left with a body that is flooded with junk that shouldn’t be in there in the first place.
So, what can you do to fix this?
Organizing a diet that keeps you free from most (if not all) of the toxic products in your local store is a great place to start. There are so many alternatives to the unhealthy go-to solutions that big corporations are promoting to you on a daily basis. The sad part is that not a lot of people are aware of them. Well, it’s never too late to get informed.
Here are 2 simple fixes that you can make to your diet, cutting out the bad and bringing in the good:
1. Always Go For Organic
This one is definitely a lot more popular than the others, but the problem is that not a lot of people understand what constitutes an organic product. People see items labelled with “Natural” and “Non-toxic” and heave a sigh of relief thinking that they are safe and organic – but that isn’t always the case.
So many of these comforting labels disguise the fact that the products still contain artificial sweeteners and preservatives that contaminate their contents. It’s sugar-coated poison.
Organic products are ones that have not come into contact with any of the synthetic chemicals and materials used regularly in non-organic products. So, no toxic pesticides, growth-hormones, herbicides, etc. Switching over to them as an alternative removes the flood of toxins entering your body, lowering your risk of diseases and nutritional deficiencies in the future.
The scary part is that these days, cross contamination from environments exposed to GMOs can spread into organic fields. You may be eating the poison without even realizing it. The best way to make sure that your food is actually organic is to jump on the home garden bandwagon. There are so many simple ways to put one together, and you can do it in less than a day.
2. Swap For Grass Fed Meats
The majority of the meats you’re buying in stores come from farms where the animals are confined in masses to small areas. Basically, none of them have the freedom to roam around and live comfortably. Instead, they’re kept in masses with a bunch of other sick animals, force fed hormones and GM corn products, and showered in antibiotics to fatten them up and keep them from dying.
What are some benefits of grass fed cows?
Well for one thing, they actually eat food that nature put on the menu. Cows were never meant to eat the corn maize that GM farmers use, because it offers no nutritional value and can’t be digested.
The meats from grass-fed cows are also:
- Higher in omega-3s
- Higher in B-vitamins and Vitamin E
- Better sources of calcium, magnesium, and potassium
- Better sources of vaccenic acid (lowers cholesterol and reduces triglyceride levels)
Many people have also found that grass-fed meats also taste better. So, in addition to bettering your health, you’re also upping the quality of what goes on your dinner plate.
It’s important not to get fooled by phony labels that make foods sound healthy, when in actuality they aren’t. Taking simple steps like these to make sure that you’re prioritizing your food intake is a great way to better your health in the future:
