5 Fat Burning Summer Smoothies
Summer is officially here!
The days are warmer and no doubt that getting your BEST summer body is on your mind. Moving your body outdoors is such a great way to connect to nature. Running is something I do regularly, which gives me a great dose of cardio – and is also an awesome is a great fat-burning tool.
Maybe you’re not a runner and that’s okay. I do encourage you, however, to move your body each day in one way or another.
Find something that you love and commit to doing it often.
When it comes to exercise, healthy eating, or any sort of habit you’ve adopted or are looking to upgrade – good or bad – it’s important to remember that change doesn’t happen overnight. Don’t let that discourage you, though. Everyone starts somewhere. The first step is the hardest, so take the leap and don’t look back except to see how far you’ve come!

For something quick, smoothies are one of my favorite go-to’s for a simple meal or snack. Why? The benefits of a well-made veggie/fruit/superfood packed smoothie are as follows….

- Provide a ton of amazing vitamins and nutrient
- Give you a lasting energy boost
- Help with weight management
- Enhance mood
- Naturally detoxify and cleanse your body
- Support your immune system
- Give you plenty of fiber
- Make the cells in your body happy!
In today’s busy world it is easy to reach for snacks that although may taste good don’t provide us with the nutrients our body needs to thrive. Luckily, smoothies are QUICK. You can whip them up in 10 minutes or less and give your metabolism just the boost it needs to get cracking!
To make smoothie-making even easier, pre-pep baggies of smoothie ingredients and freeze them to grab in a hurry. When you’re in a rush simply dump the contents in the blender, pour into a glass and go!
While creating these new habits to get the body you want may be a little scary, I want to remind you that you have everything you need within you. I have no doubt that you can and will discover new heights that you’d only dreamed of. Your dream body can become your reality – for good! And I am here to support you on your journey.
A couple important things to remember when you’re looking to support your workout efforts with proper nutrition…
1. FAT DOES NOT MAKE YOU FAT
It’s the combo of fat and sugar that makes you fat.
So when did everyone get so side-tracked and mislead about fat? Well, a few decades ago a study was conducted called the Dr. Key’s Seven Countries Study where Dr. Key found that the countries who ate the most fat (particularly saturated fat) also had more cases of heart disease. Thus he concluded that the consumption of fat leads to more heart disease.
See any problems with this study?
First of all, correlation is not causation. His conclusion was more based on assumption then actual facts. Although his “findings” were really just theories, people grabbed onto the idea that fat makes you fat and causes disease and began avoiding it like it was the root of all evil.
Now people are beginning to realize that the real culprit of our troubles is actually SUGAR. Not fat. Fat is actually EXTREMELY important for your body to function!
- are important for building and maintaining cell structure
- are a major source of fuel for your body
- are essential for absorbing many fat-soluble antioxidants and vitamins (A, D, E and K)
- are essential for optimum heart, brain and nervous-system function
Moral of the story? Fear sugar! Not fat!
2. PROTEIN KEEPS YOU ENERGIZED AND FULL – SO YOU WON’T OVEREAT
If you work out first thing in the morning like I do, your breakfast should reflect the work you put in. If you expend more energy, you need more protein. Simple.
Check out the blog for details of the right amount for men vs. women. As I mentioned above, if you are active, you will need more protein so listen to your body and adjust accordingly.
3. NOT ALL CARBS ARE CREATED EQUAL
Eat carbs with a low glycemic index.
Glycemic Index (GI) is the rate at which a carbohydrate contained in a food is converted into glucose (simple sugar) and enters into the bloodstream.
The lower the glycemic index of a food, the lower the insulin secretion and the less likely the tendency of a carbohydrate to be converted into fats.
Low GI foods have been shown to trigger a longer lasting satiety feeling after a meal which blunts the tendency to crave for sugars between the meals!
How smoothies have helped me on my journey
If you’ve been watching these videos for a while then you know that it’s taken me a lot of hard work to get where I am right now – in all aspects of my life, including physically.
I was miserable, overweight, tired all the time and aging far beyond my years.
And it was all because the path I was walking wasn’t aligned with who I was inside.
My external appearance reflected everything going on within my body – the late nights, energy drinks and lack of proper nutrition… they all showed up on my waistline, as well as my mood, confidence and the motivation to follow the path to my true purpose.
One of the best tools in my personal transformation arsenal was incorporating the right foods and smoothies were the easiest way I found to do so.
Alright, my friend. I am ready to blend up my FAT LOSS LOVIN’ SUPER SEXY SUMMER SMOOTHIE!
This smoothie was a game-changer and even more so since adding in the superfoods and adaptogens in our Organifi Green Juice.
Here’s what you’ll need:
SUPER SEXY SUMMER SMOOTHIE
- 1 ½ scoops of protein powder (I like this one)
- 1 cup of blueberries
- 1 Tbs. of almond butter (I like this one)
- 1 handful of spinach
- 1 handful of romaine lettuce
- ½ avocado
- ½ Tbs of cinnamon
- 1 scoop of Organifi
- 1 cup of ice
- 2 cups of almond milk (make sure it’s carrageenan-free)
- Place everything into your blender and enjoy!
This is a smoothie that will help you have superior energy levels and motivation to get through a tough day or a tough workout. And your waistline AND your tastebuds will love it! Doesn’t get better than that.Here are a few more fat burning power smoothies for you to try.
Waist Friendly Pecan Pie Smoothie
- 1-2 cups coconut milk
- 1 apple
- ¼ cup raw unsalted pecans
- 1 scoop raw protein powder
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 2 tbsp flax seeds
- 1 handful spinach
- dash of cinnamon and nutmeg
- ice cubes (as desired for texture)
- Throw together and blend until smooth. Drink within 15 minutes.
Cucumber Belly Burner Smoothie
- 1 large cucumber or 2 small
- 1 avocado
- 1 handful kale
- 1 handful chard
- 3 mint leaves (fresh is best)
- Juice of ½ a lime
- 2 kiwi
- Add all ingredients to your blender and voila!
Choco-Motion Fat Burner Smoothie
- 1 scoop raw protein powder
- 1 cup almond or cashew milk
- 1 banana
- 1 tbsp raw cacao powder/nibs
- 1 tbsp almond butter
- 2 handfuls spinach
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- Blend together and ENJOY.
Citrus KICK Smoothie
- 1 cup water
- 2-3 kiwi
- 1 peeled orange
- 2 slices of lime, one with zest
- 1 dash cayenne pepper
- ½ inch peeled and chopped ginger
- handful of spinach
- Add some ice to make it the perfect summer slushie.
