Some people use camping as a way to become one with the outdoors. It’s an opportunity to walk away from the noise of the 21st century with its technology, media, and politics, and welcome the peace of nature. But wouldn’t it be great to have the tranquility of the outdoors without having to give up running water and electricity? Well, this year’s innovators have made that all possible with a self-sustaining camper.

The Wonders of a Self-Sustaining Camper

Just last month Salt Lake City, Utah held an RVX expo featuring the newest trends of RV lifestyle. One camper, in particular, had everyone’s attention. It’s called the Sonic X RV. One of its greatest qualities is the carbon fiber body panels. Carbon fiber is an extremely lightweight material often used for luxurious supercars and speedy sports cars. But while this material may give the RV a hoity-toity feel, it definitely has its heavy duty side. Its 30-inch off-road tires, for example, give the Sonic X the ability to cross some pretty tough terrain.

But the interior is arguably more impressive than the chic carbon fiber exterior. The camper is fully furnished with a modern-style kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and lounging area. The windows are deeply tinted which adds a layer of elegance to the camper and helps in regulating the temperature.

Running Water and Electricity on Wheels

But the Sonic X’s greatest appeal is its ability to become a self-sustaining camper. With a first-of-its-kind Secondary Infinite Water System, this camper can store up to 100 gallons of clean water. Just place the 25-foot hose in a nearby body of water and let the pump and filter do the rest. The Sonic X also has solar panels that can charge the nine lithium-ion batteries up to 1,000 kilowatts. With running water and electricity for days, the possibilities are endless.

Camping In Style

There’s no denying that the Sonic X RV is an off-grid dream come true. That is if you’ve got the big bucks. This self-sustaining camper has set the example of a new RV future, but it may be a few decades before this technology is readily available for the general public.

So what if you want the luxury of the Sonic X, but on a budget? How can you camp in style without busting a hole in your wallet? Here are a few tips to a truly deluxe camping experience.

1. A Softer Sleeping Situation

Who said camping means sleeping on the cold ground in a sleeping bag? If you really want to up your camping style, the first step is getting real comfy. Bring an air mattress and top it was a memory foam pad for a super soft sleep. You can even bring sheets, a comforter, and a couple of throw pillows if you really want to feel at home.

2. Light It Up

Nothing adds more ambiance to a camping trip than some extra lighting. Light up your campsite with LEDs, faux candles, lanterns, glowsticks and anything else you’ve got. You’ll likely find a bit of lighting can really set the mood for a great trip. You can even bring some sparklers for a little extra fun.

3. Lounging Around

Sitting on a tree stump by the fire is exciting until your behind tells you otherwise. To really spice up your camping trip, try setting up a comfortable lounging area. Butterfly chairs are a great option because they can fold up for travel, but they still look nice. Wicker chests are also great as a cheap footrest or table. And don’t stop there! You can bring colorful rugs, hammocks, vases for flowers, and any other decor you think of to really make space your own.

4. Hygiene Hacks

The hygiene situation can be tricky when camping, but don’t let that stop you from heading to the great outdoors. Stock up on hand sanitizer and use baby wipes at night or throughout the day to keep clean. Mouthwash can also be a lifesaver and dry shampoo really makes a world of difference for the hair. Bringing more than enough clothes is also a good idea. Sometimes just slipping on a fresh shirt can be all you need to feel refreshed.
