Oatmeal is a pretty classic choice for breakfast food. There isn’t really any better way to start the day then with a comforting bowl of oats, but plain oatmeal can get kind of boring.

What we recommend is starting simple with this classic oatmeal blend, and then getting creative with different types of awesome toppings. The greatest thing about oatmeal really is how easy it is to dress up with fun flavours, so you never have to be bored.

And of course, the second greatest thing about oatmeal has got to be how easy it is to prepare beforehand. With this oatmeal recipe, you can prepare individual portions of oatmeal in Ziploc bags, so they’re all ready to go in the morning when you need a quick meal on the go!

Classic Organic Oatmeal Recipe

  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats or instant oats
  • 2 teaspoons chia seeds
  • 1 teaspoon dried sweetener of choice (maple syrupcoconut sugar, honey, stevia etc.)
  • A pinch of salt
  • Add-ins of choice

Directions: Add all ingredients into individual ziploc bags and store in cupboard. When you want to make the oatmeal, pour in a bowl with a small amount of boiled water and mix until thick.

Awesome Add-ins

No oatmeal is truly complete without some great toppings. Organic add-ins are what change the humble oatmeal from a passable breakfast to a sumptuous, colorful meal.

The great thing about some of these ingredients is that they can be added right into your pre-made bags of oatmeal! Mix dry ingredients right into the bad for an easy morning preparation, or opt for adding fresh ingredients as soon as you make it. Either way is fine by us!

Adding fresh fruit to your oatmeal is a perfect way to bring some extra fresh nutrients into your morning. And the best thing is, you can mix and match until you find the perfect combination for you. Here are some topping suggestions to make your morning oatmeal shine.

Strawberries and Cream:
2 tablespoons freeze-dried or dried strawberries

Blueberry Almond:

1 tablespoon sliced almonds
