Tired of your basic butter-and-toast breakfast? It’s very possible that you are, but sometimes the little time you have in the morning, (or a lack of energy for that matter!) may discourage you from preparing a more creative morning dish.
Luckily, here are five breakfast boosting toasts that are quick and easy to make, packed with unexpectedly delicious flavors, and healthy for you too! Make sure to prepare them all on gluten-free bread or organic-sprouted wheat bread to prevent illnesses associate with other breads.
Berries, Basil and Lite Cream Cheese
Berries are great morning fruits because they help to cleanse your system of unwanted toxins, allowing you to really start your day off fresh. Fresh chopped basil is loaded with vitamin K, a vitamin great for heart and bone health.
The mildly acidic taste of blackberries and raspberries combined with the soft, creamy taste of cream cheese will have your taste buds tingling with delight.
Pineapple, Cottage Cheese and Cashews
This is another interesting fruit and cheese combination that you probably haven’t tried, this time with more of a crunch! The sweet, refreshing taste of pineapple is offset with the mild-flavored taste of cottage cheese and trace-mineral-rich cashews.
Pineapple is rich in vitamin C, which is great for strengthening the immune system for those days when you wake up feeling under the weather.
Plum, Sunbutter and Flax Seeds
For those of you who are trying to avoid animal products or have a nut allergen, this breakfast toast is perfect for you! Sunbutter has the look, taste and texture of peanut butter, but it’s made of sunflower seeds. It’s low in saturated fat, low in sodium and has no cholesterol.
Plums are great for lowering blood sugar levels, (good news for diabetics,) and the flax seeds are ideal for a morning bowel movement.
Mango, Lime and Mozzarella
This toast is a sweet, chewy meal topped with a fresh lime zest and a sprinkle of sea salt.
Mozzarella is a great pairing with any fruit. It’s a good source of niacin, riboflavin, thiamine, biotin and vitamin B6.
Mango, the most widely consumed fruit in the world, has so many health benefits. One of these benefits are its high levels of beta-carotene, which are ideal combatants against colon and prostate cancer.
Avocado, Feta and Pomegranate
Last but certainly not least is the fantastic feature image of this article. If you don’t know already, avocado, a popular super food, has plenty of healthy fats, and pomegranate contains the most antioxidants of all other fruits.
Avocado’s flesh, oily, creamy taste mixed with sweet pomegranate and salty feta cheese gives you all the tastes you’d find in a meat sandwich, though this breakfast toast is completely vegetarian.
