hotwinterbeverages loading...

With the cold weather approaching, we often find ourselves reaching for a warm blanket, sweater, or cup of tea. And while a warm blanket is cozy, and tea is often very good for us, are you really getting the most out of your favorite winter comforts?

Gathered here is a list of recipes for great tasting beverages that will help get you through the winter months. Not only will these drinks warm your bones, but they’ll also help make you feel better. These drinks have the power to prevent and combat colds and flus, fight chronic inflammation, and increase blood flow to those extremities that seem to go numb as the mercury drops.

Beat The Winter Beverages

Any one of these drinks can be made easily at home and you can drink them as often as you like. These are our favorite winter weather drinks:

Lemon-Turmeric Tea

You’ll need:

  • 1 to 1 ½  cups of boiling water
  • Juice of ½  freshly squeezed lemon
  • ¼  teaspoon of turmeric
  • Pinch of red chili powder or cayenne
  • Pinch of pink Himalayan salt
  • 1 teaspoon of raw organic honey

Directions: Just mix all of these ingredients thoroughly in a mug until the spices and honey are dissolved.

  • Dash of freshly ground ginger
  • ½  of a vanilla bean pod
  • 1 dash of stevia

Directions: Heat the almond milk in a saucepan and while it’s warming, whisk in the other ingredients until dissolved.

This drink should be had warm, especially when coming down with a cold or flu. A fever is your body’s natural way of fighting infection, and warming your body works the same. The cinnamon, nutmeg, and cayenne warm you while balancing blood sugar and boosting metabolism.

Hot Apple Cider

You’ll need:

  • 1 cup of organic apple juice
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Apple cider is filled with vitamin C that boosts the power of your immune system, which can be impaired due to cold weather. It also contains the soluble fiber pectin that helps reduce cholesterol. Cinnamon also promotes good digestion and helps regulate blood sugar levels.

Hot Ginger Tea

  • 3 ounces thinly-sliced ginger root
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon of raw organic honey

Directions: Boil the ginger and then strain, stirring in the honey.

Ginger is great for aiding cold weather ailments. It can help relieve discomfort felt from osteoporosis and fibromyalgia, which can flare up during colder weather. It also has anti-tussive properties which helps people suffering from coughs.
