Intravenous Curcumin Inhibits Colon Cancer Growth and Kills Cancer Cells, Research Reveals
Curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric, has been proven to be extremely beneficial for dozens of conditions including but not limited to: arthritis, digestive problems, hormonal health, and cancer. Its most popular uses in the recent years are in supplement form, in cooking, as a type of golden paste , in home remedies like fire vinegar, or in combination with other herbs.
But there is another method of using turmeric that is far less known, but may be extremely important for the future of natural medicine: intravenous curcumin.
What The Research Shows:
In a report on curcumin clinical trials published in The AAPS Journal in 2013, it was reported that intravenous sodium curcumin was successfully used in human biliary diseases (conditions affecting liver, gallbladder, and bile ducts).
A study in China also used a type of intravenous curcumin.
The curcumin used was encapsulated into monomethoxy poly (ethylene glycol)-poly(?-caprolactone) (MPEG-PCL) micelles. The intravenous application of it was effective in inhibiting the tumor cell-induced angiogenesis (creation of new blood vessels that would feed cancer cells in the body in order for them to grow).

Another study successfully used curcumin-loaded micro-particles as a chemoprevention agent by injecting it into tumors of mice. Chemoprevention means using a substance (natural or lab-made) in order to stop or slow down cancer growth.
What The Doctors Say:
Functional Medicine Doctor Brian Davies from Westcoast Integrative Health in North Vancouver, Canada wrote about using intravenous curcumin in combination with intravenous vitamin C for patients with chronic health conditions, and in combination with intravenous antioxidant called glutathione (the “master hormone” produced by the human body) for hepatitis C, and liver fibrosis.
Dr. Leigh Erin Connealy of Cancer Center for Healing, in Irvine, California, has also claimed to successfully use intravenous curcumin on patients with both rectal cancer and oral cancer. As she notes on her website:
At Cancer Center for Hope, the cancer clinic where I am medical director, I have used intravenous (IV) curcumin on several patients with very encouraging results. In one instance, for example, I used IV curcumin with a patient I’ll call Debra, who had suffered from a rectal tumor for five years. The tumor extended into her colon, causing a great deal of pain and uncomfortable bowel movements. After just six treatments with intravenous curcumin, her pain dramatically diminished and her bowel movements became more normal. In another case, Richard, a patient with tongue cancer experienced tremendous decrease in the swelling after only one treatment.
Advanced Rejuvenation Institute in Atlanta, Georgia has also been using intravenous turmeric for liver health, inflammation, cancer prevention, and in combination with other cancer treatments.
Because curcumin prevents blood flow to cancer cells, it reduces cancer growth, and improves recovery rates from not all but many cancers, including: breast, lung, prostate, and colon.
