Lemon Brownies – Topped with a Delicious Lemon Glaze

If you are one of those people that likes a zest of lemon with your desserts, then this one’s for you! This recipe is positively delicious and is sure to satisfy your lemony cravings. This recipe shakes things up a bit and though it doesn’t feature chocolate like the term “brownies” typically implies, it’s got a smooth, yummy glaze on top that perfectly compliments the lemon flavor. You’ve gotta give them a try!

Sumptuous Lemon Brownies

Brownie Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp lemon zest
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder

Lemon Glaze Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 4 tbsp lemon zest


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line a 9×13 baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Using a large bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder.
  3. Using a standing mixer, beat together the butter, sugar, lemon juice, and lemon zest until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs, one at a time until combined.
  5. Gradually beat in the dry ingredients until combined.
  6. Pour batter into the baking pan and bake in the oven for 25-28 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs. Make sure to not over bake.
  7. Allow to completely cool on the counter.
  8. Using a large mixing bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, lemon juice, and lemon zest until combined.
  9. Pour the glaze over the lemon bars and spread evenly.
  10. Allow hardening overnight before enjoying!

Skinny Lemon Brownies

Brownie Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of white flour
  • 1 stick butter, softened
  • 2 large or extra large eggs
  • 3/4 cup superfine sugar or granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp lemon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 tbsp lemon zest
  • 1/4 tsp Kosher or sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Lemon Glaze Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup sifted powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mist a nonstick 8 or 9-inch square pan with cooking spray. Set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, add the softened butter with the sugar and beat with a hand-held mixer until fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time until well incorporated. Add the lemon juice,  zest, and vanilla extract and mix just until combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Add the flour mixture into the wet ingredients and beat at medium speed for about 1 to 2 minutes until nice and creamy.
  4. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for about 20-24 minutes. Try not to over bake. The edges will turn lightly golden brown. A toothpick should have moist crumbs. Let cool on a wire rack for at least 20 minutes.
  5. While cooling, prepare the glaze and then spread over the brownies and sprinkle on the zest. Cut into 16 brownies and enjoy!
