New Research Says Drinking Wine Before Bed Makes You Lose Weight
There are so many different kinds of alcohol, some of which easily slide into our “favorites list” of beverages, leaving others in the dust. Wine is one of these alcohols. But not only does wine often end up being amongst people’s favorite alcohols, but it also has some remarkable health benefits! While you might think that it simply has twice the alcohol content as most beers with a much fruitier flavor, think again. Health Benefits of Wine
This delicious beverage has so many incredible health benefits that you probably didn’t already know about! Wine is full of beneficial antioxidants that help your body fight against certain illnesses, and it’s also a great immune system booster. Wine can help increase bone density, reduce one’s risk of stroke, and also reduce one’s risk of heart diseases. One of the latest discoveries about the health benefits of wine, however, is that it can help you lose weight if you drink it just before bedtime. (1, 2, 3)
Scientists and researchers from Washington State University and Harvard uncovered a certain chemical found in wines that helps prevent fat cells in the body from collection more fat. This chemical is called resveratrol. According to experts at the Mayo Clinic, “The resveratrol in red wine comes from the skin of grapes used to make wine. Because red wine is fermented with grape skins longer than is white wine, red wine contains more resveratrol.” Additionally, the Mayo Clinic says that:
“Resveratrol might be a key ingredient in red wine that helps prevent damage to blood vessels, reduces low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol (the “bad” cholesterol) and prevents blood clots. Some research shows that resveratrol could be linked to a lower risk of inflammation and blood clotting, which can lead to heart disease.
Resveratrol has also been found to help keep your body from acquiring more fat! The scientists found that by drinking two glasses of wine every day, one can help lower their risk for obesity by an enormous 70%.” (1, 2, 3, 4)
More Studies Done On Wine
More studies have been completed to help determine the health benefits of wine, including one out of the University of Denmark, which revealed a clear relationship between waistlines and the consumption of wine. The study discovered that people who drank wine every single day actually had slimmer waistlines than the people who didn’t drink wine that regularly. (1)
As though you needed some encouragement to add some wine bottles to your grocery cart, there was even another study done at Harvard on weight gain. Out of 20,000 people tested, every person who ended up gaining a significant amount of weight lacked the regular presence of wine in their diet. (1)
In addition to all the studies, one of the reasons it’s believed that wine is so beneficial in the evenings to help one lose weight is that the calories within wine help one to feel full longer, reducing cravings and late-night binging.
