Like most of my fellow hungry people on the internet, I like to occasionally reward my soul after a long day of work, by allowing myself to indulge on the finer, more sweet and elegant parts of life. Whether this means that I am going to give myself a few hours to binge watch my favorite TV series online while wearing my pajamas, or maybe spending some time eating an entire cheesecake at three in the morning, I think that it’s important to give yourself the proper time to indulge in whatever makes you happy.
Since we are all just hungry people that are unsure of when we are going to get our next dessert, enjoying some proper sweets is a great way to reward ourselves after a long week. Or maybe we just want to give ourselves some sweets because we deserve it. We did the thing and therefore we can do what we want, right?
The only problem is many of us are on diets to try and maintain some degree of health and fitness. It is a little bit of a bummer that we have to eat “healthy” in order to be “healthy.” Whose idea was that?
If like many others, you are on the keto diet, you might struggle to find a dessert that is delicious and still safely follows the keto diet’s relatively strict standards. One of the biggest things that I miss when I am on a diet is ice cream. It can be hard to go without my favorite frozen treat, but I sometimes make the excuse that ice cream might not be good for the body, but it’s good for the soul.
However, I can’t always reason with myself and make such excuses. Sometimes I just have to accept that if I’m going to diet, I am going to have to sacrifice some of my favorite treats. This is an epidemic that millions of people face every single day. Who knows the actual number?
I was fortunate to stumble across this wonderful recipe by delish that replicates an excellent chocolate frozen treat that is served at a popular fast food restaurant chain. I can’t say the actual the name of the restaurant, but the mascot has is a human with red hair and its name rhymes with Syndy’s.
This recipe wonderfully replicates the taste of the ice cream while still following the keto diet! Plus it is easy to make! If you are on the keto diet and having your sweet tooth act up, then this is the recipe for you. Let’s take a quick look at it.
Keto Frosty Recipe
- 1 1/2 c. heavy whipping cream
- 2 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3 tbsp. keto-friendly powdered sugar sweetener, such as Swerve
- 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
- Pinch kosher salt
- In a large bowl, combine cream, cocoa, sweetener, vanilla, and salt.
- Using a hand mixer or the whisk attachment of a stand mixer, beat mixture until stiff peaks form.
- Scoop mixture into a Ziploc bag and freeze 30 to 35 minutes, until just frozen.
- Cut the tip off Ziploc and pipe into serving dishes.
