He goes on to explain that the female hormone, estrogen, ‘regulates the menstrual cycle, promotes cell division and is largely responsible for the development of secondary female characteristics during puberty.’
Unfortunately, hormone imbalances are very common in our society. Our diets, chronic stress and even products we buy from the shops; ‘hormone-laced beef and poultry, pesticides, car pollutants,‘ (Dr.Lam) could affect our estrogen levels negatively.
3 Effects of Hormone Imbalances
These hormone imbalances can lead to adrenal fatigue, estrogen dominance or thyroid problems which can have dire effects on your health and lifestyle.
1. Adrenal Fatigue
The reason adrenal fatigue is so incredibly common in our world is down to stress. It can be caused after ‘a long period of stress or several stressful situations’, people who have ‘driven themselves to exhaustion’ or ‘after extended of severe respiratory infections’ (Dr. Wilson). According to ZRT Laboratory ‘Estrogen dominance refers to an ex- cess of estrogen when progesterone levels are inadequate.‘ This excess estrogen can cause;
- Water retention
- Breast tenderness
- Mood swings
- Loss of libido’ (John Lee, MD)
In Dr. Lam’s article, he gives an example of a woman called Jane who eventually suffers from all of the dangerous conditions which estrogen dominance can cause, including cancer. He says that; ‘Jane had been bathing in a sea of estrogen for 40 years without knowing it.’

They say that ‘There are many types of thyroid disease. Both main types of thyroid disease have slightly differing symptoms, some of them I will list below.

1. Basil Oil

This essential oil is a great way to lower thyroid or ovary imbalances, it can be found here. It can help stimulate thyroid activity and help balance out hormones.
