What Is Really Causing Heart Disease in America?
Currently, and throughout the past couple decades, the only recommended treatment for heart disease in America were prescription medications that lowered cholesterol and diet adjustments. More specifically, diet adjustments were intended to lower a patient’s cholesterol, which in turn would lessen heart disease.
In truth, heart disease is not caused by high cholesterol levels, but by inflamed artery walls. As medical practitioners are coming to terms with the error of their past ways, they are starting to recommend different diet adjustments and treatment.

The Cause of Heart Disease in America
When your body is working correctly it can manage an average cholesterol, carbohydrate and sugar intake but when your arteries are inflamed, things change drastically.
Inflammation is the reason cholesterol and other potentially harmful substances can build up in your body. When your arties are inflamed, these substances are not able to travel through the body as intended and thus they accumulate.
Pizza, pasta, cupcakes, white bread and other foods with refined sugar and simple carbohydrates cause your body to produce insulin, which places sugar in your cells to be stored as energy. The problem arises when you are ingesting too much sugar for you cells to store; this is when your blood sugar level spikes and the excess sugar turns into stored fats.
Throughout this process, the excess sugar attaches itself to proteins that are traveling through your blood vessels. As they travel together the sugars damage your artery walls, which results in inflammation. As you can image, the more this happens, the more inflamed the wall of your arteries become.
Another contributor to heart disease is the imbalance of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids that this diet develops. An average ratio of omega 6 to omega 3 fats should be 3:1 but most Americans have an average of 15:1.
Healthy Substitutes For Common Foods
– Coconut oil – Instead of – soybean oil
– Organic olive oil – Instead of – corn oil
– Omega 3 fats – Instead of – omega 6 fats (however don’t cut omega 6 fats out of your diet all together)
– Complex carbohydrates (fruits, vegetables) – Instead of – Simple carbohydrates (refined sugars, breads etc.)
A tried and true way to avoid, prevent, and help treat heart disease is to resort back to a “caveman” diet. In other words, only eat things that are natural, organic and unprocessed, which means no foods with refined sugars!
When your body isn’t ingesting excess sugars then your arteries will be happy, healthy and most importantly, not inflamed. When your arteries are working efficiently your risk of heart disease is lowered significantly, not to mention you’ll be lowering your chances of getting diabetes as well.
